Species Affected

Species at Risk in the Essex-Erie Region

The Essex-Erie Region has a large number of fish species at risk. This is due to our regional location at the northern extent of many of these species' range and diversity of habitat types (terrestrial, wetland, lake). Many of these species have unique habitat requirements, and are sensitive to pollution and habitat alterations.

Threatened:
A wildlife species likely to become an endangered species if nothing is done to reverse the factors leading to its extirpation or extinction.
