Living Legacy Forest

The Living Legacy Forest Programme is a celebration of important life events such as births, birthdays, graduations, weddings and anniversaries and helps to establish natural reforested areas to be enjoyed for generations to come. Each donation covers the cost of purchasing, planting, maintaining, and when necessary, replacing trees. Funds raised through this programme also help complete other worthwhile conservation projects in the region.

The forest will be a beautiful addition to the region's landscape and a lasting tribute to all those for whom trees have been planted. It will help to create a lasting legacy of a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations. Because only 7.5% of our region consists of natural areas, reforestation is an important priority. Tree planting will help to improve air and water quality as well as providing essential wildlife habitat and recreational areas.

Native hardwoods are planted the Janisse-Marcotte-Melady-Sutton-Morris Sutton Living Legacy Forest Site located at Big Creek, about 10km south of Amherstburg. Each $25 donation allows a tree to be planted honouring the person named by the donor.

Please Note: Specific trees are not assigned. We respectfully request that trees are not marked both to prevent damage to the trees and maintain a natural setting, which is the goal of the programme.

To plant a tree in celebration of an important life event for someone important to you, please print the application form PDF and mail it to Essex Region Conservation Foundation, 360 Fairview Avenue West, Suite 311, Essex, ON N8M 1Y6 along with a cheque for your $25 per tree donation; or call 519 776 5209 with your credit card details.
