You don't need to go far in the Essex Region to find a good fishing spot. We are fortunate to be virtually surrounded by water and fishing is something adults and children can find to be a great deal of fun, relaxing and sometimes very exciting. Enjoy the scenery and sounds of nature and maybe you'll get a bite!

Where to enjoy this activity

  • Cedar Beach Conservation Area
    Throw your line in at the mouth of Cedar Creek, or try the lake further along the sandy beach.
  • Cedar Creek Conservation Area
    Cedar Creek is a thriving and beautiful ecosystem and a popular spot with fishermen.
  • Crystal Bay Conservation Area
    This sheltered spot in the Detroit River gives boaters a chance to drop anchor, relax and get out their fishing rod. Here you could catch Muskie, Walleye, White Bass or Yellow Perch. If nothing bites, you could always move on to the nearby White Sands Conservation Area.
  • Hillman Marsh Conservation Area
    Try fishing in Lake Erie using the north or south parking lots on the east side of the marsh. You may catch Walleye, Bass, Large Mouth Bass, White Bass, Yellow Perch or Carp.
  • Holiday Beach Conservation Area
    On Lake Erie you might find Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, Bass, Large Mouth Bass, White Bass, Yellow Perch or Carp. Alternatively, for a nominal fee, you could try the well-stocked Trout Pond in this Conservation Area.
  • Tremblay Beach Conservation Area
    At this popular Lake St Clair fishing spot, you could catch Muskie, Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Yellow Perch and Northern Pike.
  • White Sands Conservation Area
    A very relaxing spot for Detroit River boaters. If you come equipped, you might catch Muskie, Walleye, White Bass or Yellow Perch.

Tips

  • Remember a valid Ontario Fishing License is required for those 18 years of age and over and Ontario Fishing regulations apply.
  • If fishing from a boat, always wear a lifejacket.
